Full Description

ANCIENT MASSERIA called "Ferrara", located in Taranto, in the Ferrara district, near Grottaglie, tells the story of the city of ceramics through the fertile and clayey earth from which it is surrounded. The first floor consists of two houses, the first consists of an entrance - living room, three bedrooms, study, two bathrooms, kitchen, hallways and another large living room with a barrel vault with exposed stone. The second consists of entrance - hallway, living room, kitchen, two bedrooms and bathroom. On the ground floor rooms with a total of 12 rooms. The original structure of the manor house dates back to 1600 and looks into the distance at the two breasts of the Piccolo sea. During the following century it was fortified for defensive purposes and enlarged. Therefore, the caretaker's house and a guesthouse were built. It was also enriched with an oil mill and other working environments where cheese was made and, depending on the historical period, other raw materials from the surrounding fields were processed, such as cereals, vegetables, tobacco, thus giving a job and a shelter to the huge crowd of families that animated every corner. Probably it was the dowry of a girl from a good family, given, together with the farm, to the cloistered nuns, of which it remained the property until 1870. After a few decades it was bought by Antonio Cavallo and is still owned by his descendants today. Surrounded by splendid and productive olive trees for a total area of about 19 hectares. The farm is located a short distance from important road and motorway junctions, therefore it is ideal for the creation of a tourist accommodation facility.
Suggestions of a long history that smells of the sacred and the profane, of solitary reflection and noises of family, sea and land. Harmonious contrasts that characterize the wonderful land of Puglia.
